Have you been through flooding? Share your stories with us.

Residents are invited to share their stories of flooding along the Barron River as part of a new history project.  Council wants to hear from residents who have experienced flooding – no matter how long ago – at Lake Placid, Caravonica, Smithfield, Machans Beach, Holloways Beach or Yorkeys Knob.  These stories will form an integral part of the project to celebrate community spirit, recovery and resilience.

What are your thoughts on Free Wi-Fi?

Cairns CBD Wi-Fi pilot

Cairns Regional Council’s Community Wi-Fi project will provide free internet access for people to use on their Wi-Fi enabled devices.

In order to ascertain the need and success of the project, Council will conduct a nine-month ‘pilot’ within the primary tourism precinct of Cairns. The trial will start in April, 2013.

Coverage will be along The Esplanade from approximately Aplin Street to Shields Street up along Pier Point Road, then back along the waterfront to Aplin Street.

Tell us your thoughts about free Wi-Fi.

Reconciliation Action Plan - Review

Reconciliation Action Plan - Review

Cairns Regional Council developed the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) to guide Council in contributing to national efforts to close the 17-year gap in life expectancy between Indigenous people and other Australians, to strengthen and improve relationships, and help eliminate the social and economic disadvantage faced by many Indigenous people.

Council's RAP is a 12 month plan that is reviewed and refreshed annually. We welcome your time and input to help us review the current RAP.
