Cairns Entertainment Precinct

Two concept designs for Cairns Entertainment Precinct

The planned Cairns Entertainment Precinct will be a place for everyone to share and enjoy, which is why community feedback is important. We want to know your thoughts and ideas about the Precinct so that we can deliver the best outcome.

The Precinct will be the far north Queensland's first world-class cultural and entertainment centre. For the first time in the region's history people will have a venue of the scale where they can enjoy a variety of attractions which were previously only available in our capital cities.

The Cairns Entertainment Precinct, to be developed by Cairns Regional Council with financial support from the State and Federal Governments, contains within it two performance theatres with stages to accommodate large and small scale productions such as concerts and ceremonies; rehearsal rooms for performers; on-site car parking; a ticketing agency; public plaza and a major regional museum... the first of its kind in the wet tropics!

Have a look at the architectural concept designs and tell us your thoughts and ideas about the precinct...

Both concept designs feature a public plaza for a multitude of community uses. What elements or allowances would you like to see incorporated into the public space?

Two concept designs for the proposed Cairns Entertainment Precinct have been unveiled.  The 'Architectural Rainforest' and the 'Layered Roofscape' concepts are now on show to the community for consideration.

The sketches include two potential versions of the building both featuring a public plaza, foyer, provision for flood immunity and storm surge resistance, car parking, stores, unimpeded views over Trinity Inlet and the ability to capture breezes.

The concept design document can be downloaded from the Library, and concept images are available for viewing in the Photo gallery at right.
